Nate Hutnak started his recycling career when he was fifteen; he was O.S.C.A.R. the Ocean State Cleanup and Recycling Seagull mascot. He traveled to different schools and helped discuss the "new" recycling campaign in RI in the late 80's. After that he worked with the Department of Environmental Management cleaning up streets, parks and random areas of Rhode Island.
In 2008, with the help of a group of dedicated fellow geeks, Nate Hutnak founded Free Geek Providence, a local 501(c)3 grass-roots charity devoted to environmental sustainability through e-waste reuse and recycling. He was the executive director from 2008 to 2010. Nate founded Indie Cycle, LLC, a family-owned and operated business, on July 4th, 2010, to provide a higher degree of reuse and recycling options. Indie Cycle is building their foundation here in Rhode Island and working their way out to the rest of the country. Indie Cycle, LLC is an authorized agent and a proud partner of American Retroworks Inc. They operate a nationally-recognized electronics recycling company, consulting office, and a respected expert in "Fair Trade Export Markets". They operate Good Point Recycling, one of the region's leading "ewaste" recycling operations, based in Middlebury, Vermont.
Indie Cycle, LLC, collects computers, monitors, televisions, stereos, cellphones, console gaming systems, batteries, network equipment and tons of other electronic items.
